WATCH: Teen's Prom Proposal Rejected In Front Of 2,000 People

Patrick Smith’s plan to ask Jen Malespina to the prom did not work out the way he thought it would.

Smith, an 18-year-old senior asked junior Jen Malespina to be his prom date in front of 2,000 people at a Hasbrouck Heights track meet April 11.

Unfortunately for Srmith Malespina already agreed to attend the prom with another student.

Smith told the MailOnline he felt pure embarrassment because he spent so much time planning the proposal.

“You can’t even put it into words,” he said. “I was like ‘Oh my god, I was just rejected in front of 2,000 people.’”

One of Smith’s friends recorded the proposal and uploaded it to Twitter. The post was retweeted 166 times and favorited 113.
