1 Killed, 1 Injured As Vehicle Hits Stone Wall Head-On In Hillsborough
Hillsborough police are seeking anyone with information about the crash that killed a Pennsylvania man.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough police are seeking information about a crash early Friday where a vehicle hit a stone wall by the Basilone Bridge, killing the driver and severely injuring the passenger.
The crash on River Road, which was reported at 12:07 a.m. Friday, killed Steven Christiano, 55, of Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania, police said. His passenger, a 51-year-old woman from Upper Black Eddy, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with a severe leg injury, police said.
When police arrived they found Christiano unconscious and the woman injured, and the vehicle's engine smoking. It was unclear why the vehicle veered off the road and hit the wall, police said.

Christiano and the woman were pulled from the vehicle and authorities began trying to save his life, while Hillsborough firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerset, where he was pronounced dead.
