12-Year-Old Bicyclist Hit By Van, Hospitalized In Somerset County
The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick for treatment.
MONTGOMERY, NJ — A 12-year-old boy riding a bike was hit by a van on Wednesday night in Montgomery, said police.
On April 5 at 6:09 p.m., Montgomery Police, Medics, and EMS went to the area of County Route 601 and Reading Boulevard for a bicyclist struck, said Montgomery Police Lt. Andrew Perry.
A preliminary investigation found that Eunhwa Yang, 43, of Hillsborough, was driving in the southbound lane of Couty Route 601 in a 2008 Toyota Sienna when she hit a bicyclist that was trying to cross the roadway, said Perry.

The bicyclist, a 12-year-old boy from Belle Mead, was crossing the roadway from the northbound side of the road, and pulled out from behind a line of stopped traffic, said Perry.
The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, received facial injuries and was taken by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick for treatment.

He was later released. The roadway was partially shut down, and traffic was delayed in the area while police were investigating.
