18-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed In Crash In Somerset County

The fatal crash happened on Easton Avenue in Franklin Township on Wednesday night.

FRANKLIN, NJ — An 18-year-old motorcyclist died following a crash on Easton Avenue in Franklin Township on Wednesday night.

Just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, a 911 call reported a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Easton Avenue near Oakland Avenue, said Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Maeweather.

Police Officers, Firefighters, and EMS went to the scene before Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital BLS and paramedics took the Franklin Township man to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Due to the extent of his injuries, the man was pronounced dead at 9:36 p.m., according to police. The teen's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

An initial investigation found that the motorcyclist was driving north on Easton Avenue when he crashed into a Toyota Camry that was making a left onto Easton Avenue, according to police.

The factors that contributed to the crash are currently under investigation by the Somerset
County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Franklin
Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
