Cops, K-9 Search Hillsborough Woods, 2 Arrested For Christmas Day Car Burglary: PD

The Somerset County Sheriff's Department K-9 and the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit helped Hillsborough police with the search.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Two people were arrested in connection with a Christmas Day car burglary in Hillsborough, said authorities.

On Dec. 26 at 1:50 a.m., while conducting residential patrol a Hillsborough Police Officer found an unoccupied motor vehicle running on Peak Lane.

An investigation found that the vehicle was reported stolen on Dec. 25 out of New York, said Hillsborough Police Lt. Christopher M. Engelhardt.

Police set up a perimeter around the area to try to find the suspect(s) who abandoned the stolen motor vehicle.

A Somerset County Sheriff’s Department K-9 and the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit were asked to help Hillsborough Police search for the suspect(s).

After a thorough search, Hillsborough Patrol Officers apprehended two suspects in a wooded area.

There is no threat to the public and the identity of the suspects is being withheld as this incident is still under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Police Department, said Engelhardt.
