2 Injured After Car Crosses Double Yellow Line, Crashes In Somerset County: Police
The serious crash resulting in an overturned vehicle and one person being extricated was reported on New Year's Eve.

FRANKLIN, NJ — Two people were hospitalized following a serious crash on New Year's Eve in Franklin Township.
On Dec. 31, 2022, at 12:43 a.m., the Franklin Township Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash, resulting in an overturned vehicle, on Easton Avenue near Culver Street, said Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Maeweather.
Officers performed lifesaving efforts until emergency medical services arrived. Additionally, firefighters extricated one of the victims from their vehicle, according to police.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital BLS and paramedics took the victims, a 21-year-old Franklin Township resident, and a 26-year-old Bound Brook resident, to a local hospital for treatment.
An initial investigation found the crash happened when a BMW M6, driving southbound on Easton Avenue, crossed over the double center line, and crashed into a Lexus UX that was driving northbound on Easton Avenue, according to police.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
A section of Easton Avenue was closed for around eight hours as a result of the motor vehicle crash.
