6 Cars Burglarized, Purses Stolen In Hillsborough

"It appears that the suspects are a group of individuals known as the 'Felony Lane Gang,' a nationwide criminal organization," police say.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Six cars were broken into and purses were stolen at the Hillsborough Racket Club at 30 Bower Lane, police report.

The club member's cars were broken into on March 6 and police are investigating the incident.

"It appears that the suspects are a group of individuals known as the 'Felony Lane Gang,' a nationwide criminal organization," Hillsborough Police said.

A similar incident occurred in February in Warren where six cars were broken into and purses were stolen at the Warren Yoga Studio.

The "Felony Lane Gang" usual methods include:

  • They frequently use rental vehicles.
  • They target fitness centers, parks, daycare centers and sporting events likely to be frequented by women and increasing the changes of finding purses left in vehicles.
  • They conduct surveillance at these locations and unlawfully enter vehicles through unlocked doors or by using a window punch to break the window of a locked vehicle.
  • They specifically look for identification such as driver licenses, checks and debit cards.
  • The victim's debit cards, checks and identifications are then used to commit theft and fraud.

"As a reminder, residents are urged to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables," Hillsborough Police said. "If valuables must be lift in the vehicle due to the nature of the activity they are participating in, valuables should be stored in the truck or other secure compartment."
