7 Easy Ways Not To Gain Weight During The Holidays!

The holiday season is fast approaching with the first major holiday being Thanksgiving.

Many people are already getting their elastic waisted pants out of the closet.  Well, for all

those that don't want to gain those extra pounds and still want to enjoy the holidays, I

have created a few quick and simple solutions.

1.                   Go for a walk on Thanksgiving morning, workout, or go for a turkey run (5K).  I

know many people will say I don't have time for that, I have food to cook, or have to

commute to family's house.  The solution? Get up15 minutes to a half hour earlier than

you usually would and get the exercise done.

2.                   Eat regularly throughout the day.  Don't starve yourself waiting for the main meal

at dinner time.

3.                   Eat 1.5 to 2 hours before your main meal time so that you don't over stuff yourself

with all the delicious food at dinner. Eat meat, vegetables and lots of good fat (coconut

oil, avocado, olive oil) to get satisfied and stay fuller longer.

4.                   Don't leave any room for dessert.  Many people purely wait for dessert and skip

the dinner.  Don't make this mistake. The dessert is the least nutrient dense option on

the table, but the most calorie rich. So eat a good dinner and when it comes to

dessert, taste a bit of everything if you choose, but everything in moderation.

5.                   Go for a walk after dinner. This is a great test to see if you overate or not. If all

you want to do is lay down and watch football or take a nap after eating dinner, then

most likely you overstuffed yourself. Take the whole family outside and go for a walk.

You know the kids need the exercise, let them run around and burn off the energy

from being cooped up inside all day (this will help them sleep and give you more adult

and relaxation time). Also, this is a perfect time to put technology to good use and

either pause the game, DVR it, or if anyone still uses a VCR, tape the game so that

you can view it after you get back from your walk (Best Buy will run a sale on

DVR's...just a thought). That way you get moving and still do not miss anything.

6.                   Once dinner is complete, make your family members to-go bags, make sure to

give away the desserts, this way there will be less temptation.

7.                   The last and most important tip is have fun and enjoy your holiday with your

family.
