$8,000 Awarded To Hillsborough Non-Profits Through Credit Card Program

Hillsborough, NJ -- More than $8,000 was awarded to six non-profit organizations through Hillsborough's Rewards Visa Credit Card Program.

"We do this three times a year and it gives us a great opportunity to give back," Mayor Frank DelCore said at the Tuesday, April 26 meeting.

The Spring 2016 Grant recipients are:

• Hillsborough Senior Chapter A - $500 for new microphones to be used at meetings.
• Hillsborough Senior Chapter B - $425 to replace the speaker system, which was 20 years old.
• Hillsborough Youth Lacrosse - $2,00 to replace six goals.
• Hillsborough Soccer Club - $1,700 for new nets and equipment.
• Boy Scouts Troop 1776 - $1,600 for various items including youth-sized snow shoes.
• Hillsborough High School Boys Soccer Club - $2,000 for new nets and goals.

The total amount awarded was $8,246.20.

Representatives from each of the organizations were present at Tuesday's meeting to accept the ceremonial check presented by DelCore and the members of the Credit Card Advisory Committee.

The program partners with the Hillsborough Branch of the Affinity Federal Credit Union where individuals or businesses can sign up for the special Hillsborough Township credit card. Everytime there is a charge a portion is given back to the Credit Card Advisory Committee to distribute as grants to local non-profit organizations.

Since the inception of the program, nearly $50,000 in grants have been awarded.

The opening of the Fall 2016 Grant Application period will be announced late Summer.
