A Variety of Acts Take Stage at Triangle School
The school's annual Variety Show puts students' talents in the spotlight.
It draws dancers, singers, budding pianists and students showing their martial arts skills—and, almost every year, there are a few surprise acts from the about 30 that perform.
This year, at Triangle Elementary School’s Variety Show, the new acts included traditional Indian drumming, performed by Yash Parikh, and a basketball demo by Luke Moleski and Anthony Scerbo.
“I’d have to say it’s the Indian drumming,” Dawn Krempasky, the parent who organizes and runs the event, said. “That and the basketball. We’ve never had a sports act before.”

The school’s run the show for 12 years, allowing students to showcase their talents to their peers, Krempasky added. As the show head for the past four years, she’s has the show operations—including recruiting, rehearsing and organizing the acts—down to a science.
This year, snow cancelled the school’s rehearsal, so this year’s show was the rehearsal and performance. In addition, several acts were unable to perform due to illness or family priorities.

Still, the show was a success for the students who performed and the parents attending. At the end of the night, each participant receives a trophy for performing from the Triangle Elementary School Home and School Association.
Acts ranged from dances, covers of popular songs, cheerleading demonstrations, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations, piano recitals and skits. With nods to KrissKross, Justin Bieber and other artists, and traditional Indian dances, sibling song-and-dance acts and magic acts, the entertainment had the audience joining in.
The show’s success tends to draw students back year after year, Krempasky said.
“We tend to have a lot of repeats (acts),” Krempasky said. “I think the kids like to get up there and showcase their talents.”
