Accidental Shooting Leaves 1 Injured In Somerville, Officials Say
A post on the Ring website showed the shooting was on Auten Road in Hillsborough, but it was on Auten Avenue in Somerville, officials said.
SOMERVILLE, NJ — A resident of Somerville injured themselves while cleaning a handgun Thursday night, officials said.
The resident had a "self-inflicted non-life threatening injury," according to Deputy Chief Frank Roman of the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
The accidental shooting happened on Auten Avenue, officials said.

"Preliminary investigation has revealed that it was an accidental discharge of a handgun while handling/cleaning the firearm," Roman said.
An alert posted to the Ring security network on Thursday night reported a shooting on Auten Road in Hillsborough, where one person had been injured.

Police told Patch that was not true.
"Nothing happened in Hillsborough," Chief Mike McMahon told Patch on Friday morning.
