"During the January Board of Education Meeting, I reviewed the various factors influencing the school closure decision. These factors include current and predicted weather conditions, road conditions, and the timing of the weather event. The collaborative decision involves input from local agencies, including the Manville Department of Public Works, Office of Emergency Management, and Police Department, all with a primary focus on ensuring safety.

The impending storm presents challenges in prediction due to the uncertainty surrounding start and end times, as well as the volatility of storm projections. Given the potential risks associated with our district's delayed opening or early dismissal schedules coinciding with the heaviest snowfall, closing school is a precautionary measure.
Having used our two allocated snow days and now closing for a third day, the 2023-2024 Manville School District Calendar provides guidance on how to handle additional closures. In this situation, previously scheduled days off will be repurposed as regular attendance days in a specific sequence (June 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27). Furthermore, the last In-Service day for staff will occur right after the final day of school for all students.
Based on this school closure, the last day of school for students will now be June 14th, and for all staff, it will be June 17th.
We appreciate your cooperation and encourage you to stay tuned for further updates. Your understanding in these weather-related situations is crucial to maintaining a safe and efficient learning environment."
Snow is expected to fall around 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service(NWS).
