HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Township recognized a young golfer for his finish at a national tournament.
On Tuesday, the Township Committee issued a proclamation honoring Arjun Karra, a rising sixth grader at Auten Road Intermediate School, after he finished in the top 20 at the 2026 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship in the Boys 11 Division.
According to the proclamation, Karra competed in the three-day tournament at Talamore Golf Resort in North Carolina and placed 18th among 153 players.
The proclamation also states that he shot a 6-under-par 66 in Round 3, recording the lowest score in the field that day.
Several of Karra's golf accomplishments beyond the world championship were also highlighted.
Karra began playing golf at age 7, tied for second in the U.S. Kids New Jersey State Invitational, and won the PGA Jr. League sub-regionals with his All-Star teammates.
"It's very impressive for 7," said Mayor Catherine Payne.
He practices daily at Royce Brook Golf Club under the guidance of a swing coach.
In the proclamation, township leaders said they extend their sincere congratulations to Karra and wish him continued success in his future endeavors.
"Thank you for this award. I would like to thank my parents and my coach for always supporting me," said Karra.
