HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Township Public School District was listed among the best school districts in the state and was ranked among the top 45 school districts in New Jersey, according to Niche's 2027 Best School Districts in America.
The rankings released recently placed the Hillsborough School District 41st best in New Jersey and 685th out of 10,449 in America.
According to the 2027 rankings, the 5th best district in Somerset County, the district ranks as the 115th best school district for athletes in NJ, the 84th best district with the best teachers in NJ, and the 105th best district for places to teach in NJ.
Hillsborough has 7,246 students with a student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1. According to state test scores, 67 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 69 percent in reading.
Niche gave the Hillsborough School District a letter grade of A. Grades in specific categories were:
Niche's rankings combine federal and state data, school statistics, and over 3 million reviews from students, parents, and teachers to evaluate schools beyond test scores.
This year, Niche updated its methodology and created separate public and private rankings for categories including arts, diversity, college prep and teachers. It also introduced school-type-specific methodologies for boarding schools and private online high schools.
"Families deserve a complete view of their options, whether they're evaluating schools in their area or exploring what's available elsewhere," Niche founder and CEO Luke Skurman said in a news release.
