HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A school bus crash on Amwell Road has caused a road closure and medivacs to be called to help with injuries.
Just before 8:30 a.m., Hillsborough Police closed Amwell Road between Eves Drive and Pleasant View Road for a motor vehicle accident investigation.
The school district shared an update around 10:30 a.m., stating, "We can confirm that the accident did not involve a Hillsborough vehicle nor any Hillsborough students. The accident just happened to take place with a vehicle passing through Hillsborough."
The district also confirmed that emergency personnel are actively on the scene and that Hillsborough High School is being used as a staging area for medical helicopters to help with injuries.
Local news helicopters are also present.
Heavy emergency activity and noise around the school campus is expected.
"We understand this may cause elevated concern following last week's medical response at HHS. We want to reassure the community that last week's injured student is continuing to recover well, and that these two incidents are entirely unrelated and coincidental," said the school district.
The district was referring to a 13-year-old bicyclist who was hit by a car and trapped underneath at the high school on Oct. 21. Read More: 13-Year-Old Bicyclist Trapped Under Car, Airlifted To Hospital In Hillsborough
"Student and community safety remains our highest priority. We will share further verified details as soon as they become available," said the district.
