Hillsborough Pet Store Offers Free Pet Food For Federal Workers
Federal employees can stop by Amwell Pet Supply and get free food for dogs, cats, birds, fish and animals during the government shutdown.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Amwell Pet Supply in Hillsborough is offering free pet food as a way to lending a helping hand to government workers during the shutdown.
“I don’t think anyone should ever not be able to feed their pet,” Amwell Pet Supply owner Hope Valenti said. “Some people are really struggling, it’s really sad. Some people could lose their houses. This is the least we could do.”
Around 800,000 federal employees have been furloughed or working without pay since Dec. 21 and won't receive their next paychecks until the government reopens.

"I’m a small business owner in Hillsborough and I thought it was the right thing to do," Valenti said. "For my store, I am not in it for the money, which may sound bizarre, but I want to help people and rescue animals."
