Basement Fire In Montgomery, Quick Action Limits Damage To Home

Firefighters from Montgomery, Rocky Hill, and Flagtown went to the basement fire on Monday morning.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — Quick action by volunteer firefighters stopped the spread of a basement fire in Montgomery on Monday.

At 9:41 a.m., the Montgomery Township Fire Department was called to a possible house fire at 30 Muirhead Court.

Firefighters found smoke showing and fire in the basement with extremely poor conditions initially.

A first alarm was initiated, calling in fire companies from Montgomery 45, 46, Rocky Hill 53 and Flagtown Fire/Rescue - Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. #1.

Firefighters ventilated the home through the back and placed portable ladders while crews attacked the fire, according to Flagtown Fire.

"Quick efforts by the initial companies limited the most extensive fire damage to the basement of the home," said Flagtown.
