Beyond the Fringe Hosts Cut A Thon for Progin Family

The salon will accept walk-ins and scheduled appointments.

Beyond the Fringe Hair Salon offers a Sunday outreach activity that’s a cut above the rest.

That’s because the Hillsborough salon will host a Cut-A-Thon fundraiser to benefit Hillsborough High School Guidance Counselor, resident and coach Ian Progin and his family from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The salons will accept donates of $25 for a hair cut with all of the proceeds benefitting the Progin family.

“We are running the event because Ian has touched the lives of many of our clients and staff through working with high school students to reach their goals,” Katie Whitman-Eick, said. “One of our stylists, Charlette Miller, is also a close friend of the family.”

Those interested in visiting the salon can either walk-in for a hair cut, or can make an appointment by calling 908-371-0003.

“We have been collecting donations for the past month or so, and anyone is definitely encouraged to donate whether or not they are getting a cut,” Whitman-Eick said.

In addition to the Cut-A-Thon, the salon will have food and drinks donated by Sal’s Pizza, Dong’s Chinese Express and Amour Café, as well as product discounts and giveaways, Eick said.

The salon hopes to raise $4,000 through the fundraiser—about 160 cuts at the $25 rate—and will also donate a portion of the product sales that day to the family, Eick said.
