WATCH: Two Tractor-Trailers Collide In Fiery I-287 Crash; One Lane Reopens

A passerby took a video of an accident where two tractor-trailers collided Monday morning causing a fire on Route 287 North, officials said

Far Hils, NJ -- Two tractor trailers collided early Monday morning causing a truck to burst into flames on Route 287 north, officials said.

The accident occurred at 4:26 a.m. on I-287 northbound north of Exit 22 at U.S. 202 near Bedminster at mile marker 24.2 causing the highway to close because of the fire, DOT officials said.

All lanes were closed and detoured at the Far Hills location.

Fire crews worked to put out the flames and move the truck off the road, which authorities say may have caused a fuel spill.

Drivers were advised to use Route 202, with traffic backed up for miles. Bedminster Police reported major traffic congestion on Route 202/206 and Route 202 as a result.

The highway was partially reopened at 7:36 a.m., however, two lanes still remain closed.

Minor injuries were sustained by both drivers, it is unknown if they were taken to a hospital. The incident is under investigation, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeff Flynn told Patch.

We'll have more as information becomes available.
