Tomson Selected Mayor, Burchette Chosen As Deputy Mayor At Hillsborough Re-Organization Meeting
Hillsborough Township Committee re-elected Doug Tomson as Mayor and Greg Burchette as Deputy Mayor, at the annual re-organization meeting.

Hillsborough Township Committee re-elected Doug Tomson as Mayor and Greg Burchette as Deputy Mayor for 2015, at the annual re-organization meeting Monday evening.
Committeewoman Gloria McCauley, who was re-elected in November, was sworn in for another three year term on the Township Committee.

Tomson, born and raised in Hillsborough, is a Government Affairs Director for the New Jersey Association of Realtors®. He served as Mayor for 2014, Deputy Mayor in 2013 and previously served on the Planning Board and Capital Planning Committee since 2008. He has also served as liaison to various Boards and Commissions for the Township such as the Agricultural Advisory Committee, Board of Education, Cable Advisory Committee, Board of Health, Local Assistance Board, Library Council, Recreation and Parks Commission, and the Youth Services Commission.
Mayor Tomson highlighted his top three initiatives for 2015; maintaining the business-like approach to government while keeping the municipal budget within the 2% cap by not taking any of the allowable exceptions and keeping a watchful eye on the fiscal operations of the Township. He will work with County officials to continue the development of Mountain View Park and has vowed to keep the momentum of promoting Hillsborough for new businesses and retaining existing ones.

“I am humbled by the confidence of my colleagues and honored to serve again as Mayor of my hometown. Last year, I said that I respect the responsibility and privilege that comes with the title of Mayor and that I accepted it with great pride not only for myself, but for my family and the residents of Hillsborough Township. This year I further embrace it,” stated the newly chosen Mayor Tomson.
Deputy Mayor Burchette served in that post for 2014. He has been a member of the Planning Board since 2004 and as Chair in 2009 and 2010, as well as a member on the Environmental Commission. Deputy Mayor Burchette is also a member of the Hillsborough Municipal Utilities Authority since 2011.
Burchette, a local businessman for the past 27 years, has always had a passion of helping people. “I am honored to continue on as Deputy Mayor and working with this dynamic group in 2015,” commented Burchette during his remarks.
“I am looking forward to serving the Township as Deputy Mayor this year in working with Mayor Tomson with the Township Committee in 2015,” commented Burchette at the 2015 Township’s Reorganization meeting.
The meeting concluded with the appointments to various Township Boards and Commissions for the year 2015 which was followed by light refreshments in the multi-purpose room.
