Candlelight Vigil For Overdose Awareness To Be Held Thursday

A table will be provided for people who wish to display photos of loved ones lost to substance use at the vigil in Hillsborough.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Somerset County community members will have the opportunity to share their pain and to help raise awareness about drug addiction during a candlelight vigil on Thursday in Hillsborough.

International Overdose Awareness Day will be observed on Thursday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hillsborough Municipal building, located at 379 South Branch Road. Coffee and refreshments will be available.

A table will be provided for people who wish to display photos of loved ones lost to substance use.

Rev. Timothy Wolf of Pioneer Family Success Center will emcee the program. Also participating will be Freeholder Deputy Director Levine and Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Members of the community, who have lost loved ones or who are in recovery, will also share their personal stories, including Jennifer Sorensen, Dina Aurichio, Krishan Clemente and Craig Calderaro.

Community agencies, self-help groups and advocacy organizations will have resource tables available with information and tools residents can use to help someone they know.

At the end of the program, a candlelight vigil will be held in remembrance of all those who have lost their lives to addiction.
