Car Split In Half, Mangled After Crashing Into Hillsborough Tree

The 21-year-old Hillsborough driver walked away with a minor injury and was charged with driving while intoxicated, said police.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A car was found overturned, mangled, and in pieces after crashing into a tree on Thursday night and a Hillsborough driver was charged with driving while intoxicated, said police.

On Oct. 27 just after 11 p.m., Hillsborough Police, EMS, and Fire units were called to the area of 28 Rouser Way for a car crash.

Authorities found that the vehicle hit a tree and had severe damage such as being overturned and split in half, said Hillsborough Police LT. Peter Scholz.

When Hillsborough Township Station 37 Fire arrived they began a search for the driver with thermal imaging cameras.

The driver, identified as Nikhil Reddy, 21, of Hillsborough, was later found by Hillsborough Police in the area with a minor injury and treated at Robert Wood Johnson New Brunswick, said Scholz.

Reddy was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Reddy was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.

He was released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
