The Walk of Hope followed a 1-mile loop around the Carrier Clinic campus in past years. This year, however, due to restrictions imposed by COVID-19, participants are invited to walk, run, bike, swim, etc., remotely from anywhere, at any time, and for any distance.

In its 10th year, the Walk of Hope is an important grassroots fundraising effort for Carrier Clinic that has generated more than $380,000 since its inception. “Our goal for 2020 is to build upon our fundraising success of the past. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit our courtyard enhancement project at Carrier’s East Mountain Youth Lodge,” said Donald J. Parker, president of Hackensack Meridian Carrier Clinic. “This addition of a parklike setting includes a multi-use sports court and therapeutic seating area adjacent to the youth lodge. The demand for a safe outdoor space for our young residents is crucial to their treatment here at Carrier.”

Michael Loch, director of Carrier’s fund development office, added, “I ask members of the community to support this great cause by making a personal donation, inviting others they know to contribute, or by creating their own virtual walk teams. As our communities face unprecedented times during the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for behavioral health services in response to this threat is on the rise and philanthropic support from our community has a significant impact on the compassionate care provided at Carrier Clinic each day.”

Contributions are needed now more than ever to support the compassionate care provided by Carrier Clinic. Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, September 26, at 10 a.m., when Carrier will go live with walk festivities at www.facebook.com/carrierclinic.

Route 18 Auto in East Brunswick returns this year as a major sponsor of the Walk of Hope.
