Chimney Fire At Hillsborough Home Over Weekend

Emergency responders from Hillsborough, Neshanic, and Montgomery all came out to help.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A chimney fire was reported at a Hillsborough home this past weekend.

On May 4 at around 2:11 p.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department and Fire Department were called to 6 Barbara Dr. for the report of a chimney fire.

Police saw the chimney was fully engulfed, said Hillsborough Police Corporal David Brown.

Hillsborough Fire Co. #3 - Station 38 transmitted a first alarm to bring more help. Firefighters found a fire in the chimney with an extension into the attic.

Crews stretched three hose lines and checked all levels of the home for extension, said the fire department.

The fire was contained to the area of the chimney, attic, and first floor.

The fire is not considered to be suspicious but remains under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Police Department and the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety, said Brown.

The home had minor damage and was deemed habitable by the Hillsborough Township Building Department.
