SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Somerset County is offering three COVID-19 testing clinics this week due to the great demand.

A clinic was held on Monday at the Manville VFW, 600 Washington Ave., Manville.

Two more clinics are also happening in the county.

Clinics will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 4 and Thursday, Jan. 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or test kits are exhausted) at Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy, 402 Roycefield Rd, Hillsborough.

"Please be aware that the weather will be cold and lines could last two or more hours. For safety reasons residents cannot stay in their cars, but must be in line. Please plan and dress accordingly," said the county.

To pre-register for either Rapid or PCR tests - this will speed your visit - go to co.somerset.nj.us.

There are dozens of private testing providers in the County as well, and they can be found using the state's tool at covid19.nj.gov.

Additionally, the county is offering several COVID Vaccination clinics this week:

  • Senior Wellness Center, 876 E Main St., Bridgewater - 12+ Pfizer & Moderna: Monday, Jan. 3 and Wednesday, Jan. 5 from 4 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Pfizer Pediatric (ages 5-11): Friday, Jan. 7 from 4 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Mega-site at the Bridgewater Commons Mall (park in Lot 10) - all ages and vaccines Tuesday, Jan. 4 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Wednesday, Jan. 5 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), Saturday, Jan. 8 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

Somerset County reported 1,004 new cases on Thursday, Dec. 30 alone, according to the Somerset County Health Department. Read More: Somerset County COVID Cases More Than Double In 1 Week

This is an increase of more than double or 536 cases since the week prior on Thursday, Dec. 24 when 468 cases were reported.

While cases are soaring, deaths are not seeing the same increase. Somerset County reported an increase of 3 deaths since last week. In total, the county has seen more than 37,400 total cases and 787 deaths since the pandemic began.
