Distraction Burglary: $3K In Jewelry Stolen From Hillsborough Home
Hillsborough Police also reported making 10 driving while intoxicated arrests last month.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A distraction burglary targeted a Hillsborough homeowner last month, police said.
On Aug. 6, a Hillsborough resident reported that a solicitor came to her door regarding a roof repair.
During the interaction, $3,000 worth of jewelry was taken from inside the home, said police.

In these types of burglaries, scammers posing as employees from various occupations such as state jobs, water supply businesses, and energy companies will distract victims in order to gain entry into their homes.
Hillsborough Police also reported a number of arrests for driving while intoxicated and drug possession:

On Aug. 6: Dawn Drummond-James, 45, of Milford, was stopped at the 7-Eleven where she was found to be in possession of CDS(controlled dangerous substance) paraphernalia. She was arrested and charged with CDS paraphernalia and released with a summons with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 7: A 55-year-old man from Branchburg, was stopped on River Road and arrested and charged with DWI. He was processed and released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 11: A 32-year-old woman of Milltown, was stopped on Willow Road and arrested and charged with DWI. She was processed and released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 12: Sharath Chiluka, age 50 from Hillsborough was involved in a motor vehicle crash on
Rouser Way. He was arrested and charged with DWI. He was released With a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 15: A 29-year-old man of Somerville was stopped on Estate Road and arrested and charged with DWI. He was processed and released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 15: A 28-year-old woman of Hillsborough was stopped on Route 206 and arrested and charged with DWI. She was processed and released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 16: A 52-year-old woman from Plainfield was stopped on Route 206 and arrested and charged with DWI. She was processed and released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 17: Jaston Aquino, 30, from Hillsborough, was involved in a single car motor vehicle crash
on Amwell Road. He was arrested and charged with DWI, processed and released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 22: Cristina Acevado, 32, from Hillsborough was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Eves Drive and was arrested and charged with DWI. She was processed and released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 29: A 71-year-old man of Hillsborough was stopped on Route 206 and arrested and charged with DWI. He was processed and released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
On Aug. 31: A 34-year-old man of Hillsborough was stopped on Camplain Road and arrested and charged with DWI. He was processed and released with a Hillsborough Township Municipal Court date.
