Fallen Firefighter Memorial To Be Created In Hillsborough, Donations Needed

Hillsborough Junior Firefighter Joseph Patti is creating a memorial inspired by the late Chief Shaffer as part of his Eagle Scout project.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Inspired by the line of duty death of Assistant Chief William "Billy" Shaffer, Joseph Patti is looking to create a memorial as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Patti, a Junior Firefighter with Hillsborough Fire Company #2 and also a Scout with Troop 186 in Hillsborough, is looking to honor Shaffer who died on July 14, 2021, while battling a car fire on Camplain Road. Read More: Hillsborough Firefighter Dies In Line Of Duty

"This memorial will be on display at the Hillsborough Municipal Complex and in the unfortunate event of any other firefighter in Hillsborough that is lost in the line of duty will have their name displayed on this memorial," said Patti on his GoFundMefundraiser page.
