Driver Crashed Head-On Into Truck On Route 206, Charged With DWI: Police

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A Somerset man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed head-on into an oncoming truck on Wednesday night, said Montgomery Police.

On Nov. 8 at around 6:15 p.m., Montgomery Township Police went to the intersection of Route 206 and Orchard Road for the report of a motor vehicle crash.

Police found a disabled 2008 Buick Enclave with heavy front-end damage blocking the northbound lane of Route 206, and a tractor-trailer parked in the southbound lane of Route 206 with its hazard lights activated, said police.

An investigation found that the driver of the Buick, 33-year-old Keith Tisdale, of Somerset, had been operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and caused the crash when he crossed over the center line and struck the tractor-trailer, disabling both vehicles, said Montgomery Police.

Montgomery EMS came and determined none of the involved parties were injured due to the collision.

Tisdale was placed under arrest and taken to Montgomery Police Headquarters where he was served summonses for DWI, failure to maintain lane, and reckless driving. Tisdale was then taken to RWJ Somerset Hospital and released into their custody for evaluation due to high intoxication level.

Tisdale is awaiting his first appearance in Montgomery Township Municipal Court.
