Driver Slumped Over Wheel At Rt. 206 Intersection Charged With DWI: PD

It took Montgomery Township Police officers multiple attempts to wake up the driver, according to the report.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A driver found asleep and slumped over the steering wheel at a Route 206 intersection was charged with driving while intoxicated, said Montgomery Police.

On Dec. 7 at around 8 p.m., Montgomery Township Police officers went to the intersection of Route 518 and Route 206 for the report of a driver asleep behind the wheel of their car.

Officers found a 2020 Nissan Rogue stopped in the left turn lane of Route 518 with a line of cars behind it honking their horns.

Police said they saw the driver, alone in the car, slumped over the steering wheel asleep.

After multiple attempts, the officers were able to wake up the driver who was identified as 31-year-old Jake Fenical out of Franklin Park, said police.

Fenical was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was taken back to Montgomery Police Headquarters for processing.

Fenical was served summonses for DWI, careless driving, reckless driving, and delaying traffic.

He was later released into his family’s care pending a first appearance in Montgomery Township
Municipal Court.
