Driver Trying To Park, Crashes Into Building In Somerset

A 74-year-old resident of Somerset was trying to park when she accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake, said police.

FRANKLIN, NJ— A driver trying to park ended up crashing into a building in Somerset on Friday, said police.

At around 4:29 p.m. on Feb. 21, the Franklin Township Police Department responded to multiple reports of a vehicle that crashed into a business at 120 Cedar Grove Lane.

The vehicle involved was a Mercedes Benz, driven by a 74-year-old resident of Somerset.

According to the investigation, the driver was trying to park when she accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake, causing the car to collide with the building, said Franklin Township Police Captain Vincent T. Wilson.

No one was injured in the incident. The Township building inspector also assessed the property and confirmed there was no structural damage, said Wilson.

The Traffic Safety Bureau of the Franklin Township Police Department has launched an investigation to determine whether any other factors contributed to the crash.
