Jr. Pee Wee
What a game today against our opponents, the Port Reading Golden Saints. We came into Port Reading's home field with both teams record 2-0. Our boys came out with a 41-18 score. Dukes were led by QB, Logan McDermid on 2 TD's and key first downs. Cole Hayden also came up big with two passing TD's to Jason Roser. Peter Sorbera came through with a TD of his own in the second quarter.
On defense, the team was led by Edryn Morales who picked up a fumble and went 40 yards for a TD. Other defensive standouts were Brenden Barker, David Dewberry, and Mitch Miller. Special teams came up big by blocking an extra point try by Logan McDermid. Overall, it was a great game for the books.
Looking forward to being home this week to celebrate the Dukes 50th Anniversary. Come celebrate with us.
Pee Wee
Sunday afternoon the road-weary Hillsborough Dukes Pee Wee football team travelled for the third time in four weeks to Field House Ball Park in Port Reading, New Jersey to take on the Golden Saints. The Golden Saints used favourable field position to secure a 14 point lead early in the first quarter and went on to deal the Dukes their first loss of the season, 21-12. Rookie phenom Jackson Roberts continued to impress with hard runs during the second half and recovered an on-side kick late in the 4th quarter that kept the Dukes in the game until the final whistle. With the running game stymied, the Dukes relied upon their aerial assault led by quarterback Jack Moran who connected with tight ends Kyle Kolans and Philip Unangst, as well as wily veteran wide receiver Jack O’Donnell who hauled in touchdown receptions of 60 and 35 yards during the second and fourth quarters to give the Dukes their only scores of the day. Although overmatched by a significantly deeper roster, the Dukes defense led by Luke Scott, Chris Spinelli and Brady Post, never backed down and continued battling until the final down. This Sunday, the 2-1 Dukes Pee Wee team looks forward to their home opener against the Bridgewater Panthers as part of the club’s 50th Anniversary weekend celebration.
Be sure to join us on Sunday, 09/24/2017 at the Hillsborough High School Stadium to celebrate our 50th Anniversary and cheer on our athletes in their home opener. The Ceremony will begin at noon, after our Mighty Mite game followed by a flag football game of Alumni and Parents.
