A firefly watch will be held at Duke Farms from 8 to 11 pm. All are invited to join a corps of citizen scientists as you enjoy an evening stroll along all or part of the farm's 1.25-mile Walk on the Wild Side nature trail and count the fireflies (aka Lightning Bugs) at several designated locations along the way. The data will be used by researchers from the Museum of Science in Boston, Tufts University and Fitchburg State College to track the geographic distribution of fireflies.
Please check in at the Visitors Center when you arrive to pick up a copy of the count form. This event is free but pre-registration is requested. Registration is available online. Contact 908-722-3700 for further information.
