
A Native Seed Collection class designed for adults will be held at Duke Farms from 10 am to 12 p.m. This two-hour class, led by staff horticulturists, will provide an introduction to the importance of using native plants in the landscape and the methods used to collect the seeds of native plants. Examination of how to identify various seeds, discussion of times to harvest, as well as cleaning and storage will be included..
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore seed collection methods in the field at Duke Farms and learn seed cleaning methods inside the growing areas. Pre-packaged native plant seeds from the property will be given to participants to take home and sow.
