New Jersey filmmaker to release SOURLANDS on June 27, 2012
Between New York City and Philadelphia, there is a forest that has survived the bulldozers of development. The locals call this place “The Sourlands.” This summer, a new documentary titled SOURLANDS explores this stronghold of green.

“The wild world doesn’t exist in a vacuum,” says SOURLANDS director Jared Flesher, an award-winning journalist. “What happens in our forests, on our farms, and in our climate are all linked. In my film I look at this one green spot on the map, and tell a story about how if we want to save it — and green places everywhere — we need to start connecting the dots.”
SOURLANDS makes its World Premiere on June 27, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Off-Broadstreet Theatre in Hopewell, NJ. Tickets cost $20, with all proceeds to benefit the Sourland Planning Council, a local non-profit. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sourlands.com

Two weeks later, on July 11 at 7 p.m., SOURLANDS makes its Film Festival Premiere at the Princeton Public Library. The screening is a special event of the Princeton Environmental Film Festival. Admission is free and open to the public.

Jared Flesher is an award-winning reporter, photojournalist, and documentary filmmaker. His articles have been published by The New York Times Online, The Wall Street Journal Online, The Christian Science Monitor, Grist, The Huffington Post, the Columbia Journalism Review, and numerous New Jersey newspapers and magazines. Jared's first documentary, The Farmer and the Horse, was released in August 2010. It has aired more than 40 times on PBS in New Jersey and is distributed nationally by Chelsea Green Publishing and Passion River Productions.
