Fire Destroys River Road Home In Hillsborough

Hillsborough police and fire marshal and Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Fire Investigation Unit are investigating the fire.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Firefighters battled a two-alarm house fire early Thursday morning on River Road in Hillsborough.

The fire was reported to a home at 751 River Road around 4 a.m. on Thursday.

A tanker task force was called to the scene due to no hydrants in the area, Hillsborough Fire Co. #3 - Station 38 said.

Along with Woods Road Volunteer Fire Company, Raritan Borough Fire Department and Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 also helped.

As a result, River Road was closed between Beekman Lane and Studdiford Road until about 5:45 p.m., police announced.
