Hillsborough House Fire Call Prompted By Construction Work

Drivers were previously asked to use caution in the area due to apparatus and manpower on Wednesday afternoon.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A "first alarm residential structure fire" call in Hillsborough was prompted by construction work on Wednesday afternoon, said Hillsborough Police.

Hillsborough Twp Station 37 Fire reported they were at a first-alarm residential structure fire on East Mountain Rd between Mountainview Road and Route 601 at 12:15 p.m.

The fire on East Mountain Road was a construction crew working with a torch near the garage door, said Hillsborough Police Lt. Scott Mc Carthy.

"A very small section of the door started smoking and the crew and homeowner put out the charred area of the wood. There was never any flames or active fire just smoke," said Mc Carthy.

There was no structural damage and no injuries.
