A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Somerset County until 2 p.m. Friday.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Somerset County until 2 p.m. Friday, which was issued by the National Weather Service.

The watch was issued as a period of heavy rain and thunderstorms, where 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected, with localized amounts of 3 to 4 inches possible, could result in flooding issues.

Excessive rainfall within a short period of time can lead to rapidly rising water and flash flooding, particularly in urban areas and along small creeks and streams, according to the NWS.
