Franklin Man Arrested With Loaded Gun At Town Park
Michael Davis had a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun loaded with hollow point bullets at Bascom Park: Prosecutor's Office.

FRANKLIN, NJ — A Franklin Township man was arrested and charged with illegally having a gun loaded with hollow point bullets and running away from police while at a local park, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson.
Michael Davis, 19, of Almond Drive was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, fourth-degree possession of prohibited weapons and devices (hollow point bullets), fourth-degree obstruction of administration of law, fourth-degree hindering apprehension and fourth-degree possession of controlled dangerous substance (marijuana less than 50 grams).
Davis was seen on June 12 at around 3 p.m. adjusting an item in the waistband of his pants by members of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force during an investigation.

Davis then left Bascom Park and began walking towards the intersection of Delmonico Avenue and Wheeler Place where authorities approached him for questioning.
Davis then ran away, running back towards Bascom Park. While running from police, Davis was seen removing a handgun from his waistband and throwing it on the ground, according to Robertson.

Authorities found the black 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, which was loaded with hollow point bullets and arrested Davis. He was also found to be in possession of five individually packaged plastic bags of suspected marijuana, as well as one plastic bag that contained three hollow point bullets, according to the report.
Davis was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
