There were no patients in the ambulance at the time of the crash.

A preliminary investigation indicates the tractor-trailer was driving north on Easton Avenue and the ambulance was driving along the jug handle from Easton Avenue northbound onto John F. Kennedy Boulevard.

The ambulance failed to stop at a red traffic signal and was hit by the tractor-trailer, according to police.

"I want to commend the responding police officers, emergency medical personnel, and volunteer firefighters for their prompt response and professionalism. This incident serves as an important reminder for all motorists to remain alert, obey traffic signals, and exercise caution while driving," said Fredericks.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to the announcement.

Anyone with information related to the crash is encouraged to contact the Franklin Township Police Department at 732-873-2300.
