Fully Engulfed Pole Barn Extinguished By Hillsborough Firefighters

The rural environment where the detached pole barn was located made for an "eventful job" for firefighters.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough firefighters had their work cut out for them as they extinguished a fully engulfed pole barn on Dec. 30.

At around 12:29 p.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department was called to 34 Pirozzi Lane for a report of a structure fire.

Arriving units found that the detached pole barn on the property was fully engulfed in flames, said Hillsborough Police Corporal Christopher Giraldi.

"Logistically this was an eventful job due to the rural environment," said Hillsborough Twp Station 37 Fire.

It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the fire "with extensive overhaul required," said Flagtown Fire/Rescue - Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. #1.

No one was inside the pole barn at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, said Giraldi.

The fire is not considered suspicious but remains under the investigation of the Hillsborough Township Police Department and the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety.

The following agencies responded: Hillsborough Fire Marshalls, Hillsborough Fire Units 36, 37, 38, Neshanic Fire unit 48, North Branch Fire, Montgomery Township Fire, Griggstown Fire, Robert Wood Johnson EMS.
