Garage Fire Sparks Overnight In Hillsborough

The residents were able to evacuate before emergency responders arrived, said police.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Police and volunteer firefighters were able to extinguish a garage fire in Hillsborough overnight.

On July 21 at around 1:51 a.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department were called to 12 Deriemer Road for a report of a structure fire.

A small fire and smoke condition were found in the attached garage of the home, said Lieutenant Scott W. Mc Carthy .

Hillsborough Police and firefighters extinguished the fire expeditiously and cleared the smoke condition.

The home was evacuated before police arrived and there were no injuries sustained.

The fire is not considered suspicious but remains under investigation by detectives from the Hillsborough Township Police Department and the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety.

The following agencies responded: Hillsborough Fire Marshall, Hillsborough Fire Units 36, 37, 38, Millstone Valley Fire Unit 28, Neshanic Fire Unit 48, Elizabeth Ave Fire Unit 26, Robert Wood Johnson EMS, North Branch Rescue Squad and Somerset County Fire Coordinator.
