Get Rid Of Unused, Expired Medicine At Hillsborough Drug Take-Back Day

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Do you need to dispose of unwanted, unnecessary, or expired medication? On Saturday, April 27, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, and Hillsborough Township Police Department are participating in the 26th National Take Back Initiative (NTBI).

The NTBI is a day to dispose of unused, unwanted, and expired medications. The event will take place at Hillsborough Township Police Department Headquarters at 379 S Branch Rd. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and throughout other locations in Somerset County.

For more than a decade, the event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications—those that are old, unwanted, or expired—that too often become a gateway to addiction.

Take Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at close to 5,000 local drop-off locations nationwide.

In partnership with local law enforcement, Take Back Day has removed 8,650 tons of medication from circulation since its inception. Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container.
