Greater Flemington Soccer Club Hosts Season Opening Picnic

Children from around the local area took part in the picnic that featured NY Red Bulls players, food, cake, prizes and more.

FLEMINGTON, NJ — The Greater Flemington Soccer Club (GFSC) held its Season Opening Picnic on Saturday drawing players from all over the local area.

The GFSC is the largest independent soccer club in Central New Jersey. As a 501(c) (3) tax exempt organization, their mission is to promote and foster the game of soccer for all in the community.

The group offers recreation, travel, summer camps, and adult programs. The 2018 recreation season begins on Sept. 8.

The picnic was held at Lenape Park in Flemington with appearances by the NY Red Bulls who tested the players' skills and handed out prizes. About 225 players of the 270 that have already signed up for the season were in attendance.

Donations from sponsors included: Shoprite, Panatieri's (brought their food truck and grilled all the burgers,dogs and pizza), Bimbos bakeries (donated buns and snacks), Randazzo (provided cakes and pastries), Ritas (provided ice), the Fudge Shoppe, Jersey Mikes, Wegmans, Costco, BJs, Home Depot, Walmart and The MAX challenge of Flemington.
