Helen Mary Konkowski, 89, Was Longtime Bell Telephone Bookkeeper

Enjoyed her rose garden and ballroom dancing.

Helen Mary Konkowski, 89, died peacefully and surrounded by her children on Nov. 23, at Somerset Medical Center, in Somerville.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she resided in South Orange before moving to Hillsborough 20 years ago.

Prior to retiring at age 67, Helen was employed as a bookkeeper for NJ Bell Telephone in East Orange for over 15 years.

A member of St. Joseph’s Church and the Senior Citizens, both in Hillsborough, she also was an AVON lady for many years. 

Helen liked to ballroom dance, was a huge Yankee fan and especially loved gardening, having nurtured over 40 rose bushes in her yard.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles in 1980 and her son, Kevin in 1975.

Surviving are two sons, Charles J. of Chesterfield, N.H., and Richard J. of Montgomery; a daughter, Carol M. Corson, of Hillsborough, and seven grandchildren, Brian, Allison, Scott, C.J., Jaclyn, Matthew and Katelyn.

Funeral services were be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday from the Hillsborough Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Joseph’s Church in Hillsborough and interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hillsborough Rescue Squad, 48 E Mountain Rd, Hillsborough, NJ 08844 would be appreciated.
