Helicopter Tree Work Expected In Hillsborough
PSE&G and JCP&L will both be conducting tree work in the township over the next few months.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — PSE&G and JCP&L will both be conducting tree work in Hillsborough over the next few months, said Deputy Mayor John Ciccarelli.
PSE&G will be using helicopters to conduct tree trimming along Township power lines and transmission lines over the next few months.
"The trimming of trees along power lines is necessary to provide safe, adequate and reliable electric service to consumers throughout the area," said Ciccarelli at the Tuesday night Committee meeting.

Due to the height of the transmission towers, PSE&G has hired a contractor to handle the trimming from a helicopter.
"We will probably hear on social media, 'Why are there helicopters?' This time it's for trimming trees," said Ciccarelli.

Additionally, JCP&L foresters will begin an intense tree cutting event on Zion Road for many of the remaining dead trees that are in danger of falling on the power lines or onto the road.
"To take down as many of the standing dead trees as possible they will drop them safely to the ground and leave them on the property to save time," said Ciccarelli.
JCP&L has notified individual property owners that they are doing this and Hillsborough's DPW will provide limited help.
"This is in response to some comments about JCP&L. We always have problems during high wind events on the mountain and so JCP&L is going to cut a lot of the dead trees and hnopefully make the power more reliable in that area," said Ciccarelli. "So we appreciate that."
