Hillsborough 'Anxious' For Local Businesses To Reopen

Gov. Phil Murphy reopened more businesses as he readies a plan to restart New Jersey's economy amid the coronavirus outbreak.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Township says they are "anxious" to reopen local businesses after Gov. Phil Murphy's announcement on Wednesday to begin to restart New Jersey's economy amid the coronavirus outbreak.

"We have been working with the business community throughout the pandemic by promoting their businesses and providing guidance and education through the executive orders. Our task force for opening Hillsborough Township has met and we are anxious as are our residents to have the local businesses be open, while keeping health and safety in mind," stated Deputy Mayor and Liaison to the Economic and Business Development Commission, Shawn Lipani.

Murphy will reopen non-essential retail stores for online and phone ordering and curbside pickup, and will also allow non-essential construction to start back up, all effective 6 a.m. on Monday. Read More: Gov. Phil Murphy To Reopen More NJ Businesses Amid Coronavirus

Drive-thru events will also be allowed to happen, with social distancing guidelines, effective immediately.
