Hillsborough Brewery to be Featured at Beer Festival
Flounder Brewing, Somerset County's only brewery, will be featured at the Big Brew Beer Festival on Saturday, March 5
Hillsborough, NJ -- Flounder Brewing in Hillsborough will be among the hundreds of craft beers available for tasting at the Big Brew Beer Festival on Saturday, March 5.
The festival will feature more than 200 craft beers at the Morristown Armory in Morristown during the general admission and during VIP, Morristown native Tim “The Brew Chef” Schafer will create a NJ Brewery Craft Beer infused VIP menu.
This will be Flounder’s fifth appearance at the festival where it has been voted “People’s Choice Award” three years in a row.

The brewery was started by Jeremy Lees, Dan Lees and Billy Jordan about two years ago, in November 2013 and is already planning on doubling in size.
Jeremy says the brewery is buying the space next door to double its space from 1,500 sq. ft. to 3,000 sq. ft. This will allow them to brew more and offer a larger tasting room.

“When we first opened we had a small system, doing just 30 gallons of beer at a time,” Lees said. “Now we are doing 100 gallons at a time.”
With the expansion, Flounder will be able to brew 1,000 gallons at a time.
Despite being open for such a short time, the love for beer for Jeremy began in his home kitchen 11 years ago.
“I got bug around then for craft beer,” Lees recalled. “I bought a home brew kit and it quickly escalated from there and it took over my home by brewing all time. I eventually made too much homebrew to drink.”
Flounder Brewing was born.
Currently Flounder Brews are only available through draft or growlers. They offer tours of the facility once a month but those fill up within the first two hours, so you need to be fast. The next growler fill day will be March 25 from 3 to 8 p.m.
Or Flounder offers some of its brews at local bars such as Big Heads in Hillsborough, Tapastre in Somerville and Fox and Hound in Lebanon.
Most recently, Flounder was also selected for the Sam Adams Experienceship award for 2016. Flounder Brewing will have a chance to have their own recipe brewed at the Sam Adams brewery in Boston, Mass. and then have it available for sampling as well.
