Hillsborough Cancels After-School Activities Due To Weather

All activities after 6 p.m., including the Board of Education meeting on Monday, have been canceled due to the impending bad weather.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Township Public Schools has canceled all after-school activities that begin after 6 p.m. on Monday, including the Board of Education meeting, due to the impending bad weather.

"This decision seems to be more difficult due to the varying nature of this weather and Hillsborough seems to be in the "iffy" zone, however, we would rather take the conservative route by erring on the side of caution," said Hillsborough Acting Superintendent Lisa Antunes.

Antunes noted the district is monitoring the weather as it evolves for tomorrow as it "may" impact the school day on Tuesday.

"As typical, our buildings and grounds crew, including our custodial staff have the salters filled and ready to roll and will be sure our sidewalks and parking lots are safe for our students and staff. Transportation is prepared to consult with our local police who are in direct contact with the Department of Public Works, as necessary," Antunes said.

"Please know that the safety of our students and staff remain at the forefront of any decision that is made and we will do our best to make a decision about the morning as soon as possible," Antunes said.
