Hillsborough Cancels All After-School Activities Due to Nor'easter

Breaking: Hillsborough public schools are preemptively canceling all afternoon activities due to the storm.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — With 50 to 60 mph wind gusts Monday afternoon and some towns already reporting flooding, Hillsborough Township public schools are preemptively canceling all afternoon activities, the school posted Monday morning.

Weather conditions are supposed to deteriorate over the course of the day Monday, and into the evening, and the following cancellations are in effect:

  • All after school activities are canceled.
  • Aftercare in all schools will be closing at 5 p.m.
  • This evening’s scheduled Board of Education meeting is canceled and rescheduled for Monday, January 30, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. in the Auten Road Intermediate School cafeteria.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Central New Jersey starting Monday, Jan. 23 from 3 a.m. until 9 p.m. Winds are expected to gust as high as 55 mph with the strongest winds expected to occur during the day on Monday. Periods of heavy rain and possible flooding are also expected.
