Hillsborough Couple Create Fresh Meal Delivery Service

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough couple Mike and Kristen Enea were looking for a better, faster and more convenient way to have home-cooked meals. They tried a few home delivery options on the market and knew they could improve it.

Diving right in, the Enea's launched their first business together called "Simply Delicious Dinners" in the summer of 2015.

“We are really a fresh, healthy, affordable meal prep business,” Mike Enea told Patch. “We relieve the anxiety for hard working singles, couples and families who don’t want to resort to unhealthy options or fast food.”

Unlike other home delivery services, Simply Delicious Dinners will prepare everything for the customer ahead of time. All of the shopping, slicing and dicing is already done when the package arrives.

“What they do on their end is very minimal when it is delivered at their door,” Mike said. “All they have to do is thaw their meals and follow simple cooking instructions. Most meals are ready within 20 minutes.”

Instead of locking customers into a subscription, the Enea's offer 15 meal options a month that can be customized to three or six portions. After their chosen amount of meals is delivered they can renew at anytime.

Since launching, the response has been “terrific,” Mike said.

They started with shipping to Somerset and Mercer counties and now have expanded to delivery in 11 different counties in New Jersey.

“We have close to 150 to 200 customers that have tried us and from that two-thirds come back and reordered,” Mike said. “Word of mouth is our biggest marketing tool and has helped us grow tremendously.”

Mike noted the food provided in the delivery are all fresh and locally sourced from reputable wholesalers in the area. And some even come from local farms in the area when the products are in season.
